Many people know that the words for The Huron Carol were written by Father Jean Brebeuf in 1643, but few people know that it is based on a sixteenth century French carol Une Jeune Pucelle. The composer Charpentier (1643-1704) quoted this popular melody in his Messe de Minuit pour Noel. Through the use of some special effects, I have tried to imitate the sounds of the wind and drums.
